Freeze marking is well known and proven as the most effective theft
deterrent. The reason is because it is visible – it will deter
thieves, but on the rare occasions when freeze marked horses go missing,
it provides an excellent tracing facility, with no need for any expensive
equipment to read the marks.
If a freeze marked horse is stolen or strays, Freezemark can be contacted
day or night and if the worst has happened, the company will circulate
full descriptive details of the missing animal throughout the country
to its many contacts, e.g. auctioneers, exporting slaughterhouses,
the RSPCA, the I.L.P.H., horsewatch and other individual contacts.
